With the increasing reports of violence against women from various parts of the city, women’s safety has become a great concern of the Govt. Addressing this pressing need of the hour UST Global, a leading application development company has launched its women’s safety app, iSafe in Thiruvananthapuram City recently.
The mobile based app, developed and launched for Thiruvananthapuram City Police was launched on the occasion of International Women’s Day at the Government College for Women, Thiruvananthapuram. The app was launched in the presence of high ranking police officers as well as other Govt officers of the city.
Though an earlier version of this application was released some months ago, this new version is expected to perform better and provide a more user friendly platform. This app will enable women to send an instant alert to the police control room by simply long pressing the volume rocker key (down) or by pressing the panic button. iSafe will send the alert to the police control room along with the present location of the mobile, the subscriber ID and the IMEI number of the mobile. Thus police authorities will know the name of the woman in trouble as well as her location. Help will be dispatched instantly via Police Control Room and the nearest patrolling van will reach the distress location.
The advanced app will let the police authorities track the location of the mobile until the situation is resolved.
Though this app is presently available on Android only, according to the UST Global authorities iSafe will soon be launched on other platforms as well. With this app the authorities are expecting to see a more quick and responsive system in place to enforce women’s safety in the city. Reportedly UST Global is developing similar apps for other state govt as well.
