Moto G has been a comeback phone for Motorola. So has been Moto X and as a series of other devices the company released after its takeover by Lenovo.
Moto G, one of the most popular budget-phone in the series, is moving up the ladder with an Android 5.1 update. Motorola has been testing Android 5.1 Lollipop update for some time, and it is reported that the release date could be announced almost any day. Moto E, Moto X and the DROID series could also be getting the update in a short span of time.
Some of the photos of Android 5.1 L on Moto G have already made out through leaks and are accessed by a few online users. Besides, Motorola has made an announcement on Twitter that the device’s chipset will require some more work before the update is phased out.
We are speculative that this could mean more delays but Motorola claims otherwise. It will have to speed up because some of the competitors have already announced their OTA update dates.
According to a software developer with Motorola, the company will be releasing Android Lollipop update on Moto X. Motorola will be conducting a soak test before announcing the release. This will involve the Motorola Feedback Network testing and providing feedback to make the required changes.
Reports are that the Android 5.1 update is going to be big. It will return the silent mode, improve system stability, fix app opening and closing issues, audio and WiFi issues, and will have better RAM and battery management.
The Moto E is also expected to go through the same process as Moto X update. But it will be the Moto G that will receive the update first. On the other hand, the Motorola DROID series will be getting its Android 5.1 Lollipop update without even going through v5.0.
